Beauty School In Session

So the other day a bit before pickup time, one of Lucy's teachers told me to come inside and a have a peek inside the little purple playhouse. As I approached, I heard Lu's little voice call out, "Meyer, you can come and brush my hair now!"

Meyer dropped his stack of wooden blocks, left his friends who were beeping (they were all robots apparently) and practically pushed me over in his attempt to get to Lucy.

I looked inside to find Meyer diligently brushing Lucy's hair (see first photo) and a whole host of other children gathered around Lucy, each fighting to groom her. Every time she bestowed a compliment or chose someone else to pretend-powder her face, that child beamed like they had just been awarded a check from Ed McMahon.

Leo asked if he could sit in the chair. Carson said no, it was only for Lucy. Lucy generously allowed that he could either have a turn later or blow dry her hair. Naturally, he chose to join the beauty team.

Even when I taught, I never saw any scenario like it. The teachers said they have never seen anything like it. They set up the pretend beauty salon a few days previously but apparently the salon is only in session when Lucy deigns to play there.

So..if you want to get groomed, you probably want to go elsewhere for service.
